Lib Dem Councillor for Harvey Central Gary Fuller is calling on Shepway Council to keep Kingsnorth Gardens tidy having been appalled at the amount of broken glass and rubbish during a recent visit. Gary was walking through the park with his wife and young children at just after 11am on Thursday 9th August when he came across an area littered with broken glass, empty beer cans and food wrappings. He was shocked to see that one of the ponds had a number of plastic bags and empty bottles and cans in it as well.
DEFRA have announced that vets tests have found no Foot and Mouth disease in the Romney Marsh farm that was at the centre of a 3km radius Temporary Control Zone yesterday.
An 11am service in the Garden of Remembrance on Sandgate Road in Folkestone marked VJ day today. The service, run by the Burma Star Association, marks the anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War in 1945 following the surrender of Japan.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have this morning announced a 3km radius Temporary Control Zone has been put on Romney Marsh, following a suspected case of Foot and Mouth disease (FMD) on a farm in the Romney Marsh area. Kent Trading Standards Officers are working with DEFRA, and a vet has taken samples for formal analysis: results are not expected until later today at the earliest.
With bad weather expected across the country this week the Environment Agency is reminding people in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Sussex and Kent to take care if out near the coast.
