Today Liberal Democrat Party membership passed the 50,000 mark: up over 5,000 new members since the polls closed at 10pm on Thursday.
Since the General Election on Thursday more than 4,000 new members have joined the Liberal Democrats. That's a growth of almost 10% in Party Membership in less than three days. Membership of the Party locally has also gone up by 10%.

The General Election result - frankly most results for the last five years - was terrible for the Liberal Democrats.
I always expected this election to be exceptionally difficult for the Liberal Democrats, given the heavy responsibilities we have had to bear in government in the most challenging of circumstances.
