A Framework which will hurt Cheriton

Local Development Framework's sound like exactly the sort of document you should go out of your way to avoid, but in the case of Shepway, it's suddenly a big issue for a number of areas, including Cheriton. The Framework (LDF) is basically the Council's "plan" on where developments could happen over the next 18 years in the area, and indicates where they would allow them if an application was made. It doesn't mean any proposal made WILL happen, but makes it more likely that it could.

Shepway Council Abandon Environment Cabinet Portfolio with Immediate Effect

In a surprise move announced by an email from Council Leader Robert Bliss today, Shepway has ended the Environmental Services portfolio with immediate effect. The position will be lost from Cabinet (reducing the Cabinet from 10 to 9 members) with the portfolios responsibilities split between existing Cabinet members.

They have been denied, but there is undoubtedly a change of heart among many back bench Labour MPs. In the last three months several new ones have said openly - against party policy - that the project should be cancelled.
